Authorities in Watertown have made an arrest in connection with a stabbing incident that took place last week. Michael McGhee, 19, of Boston, is charged following the altercation at the intersection of Mt. Auburn and Boylston Streets, as announced by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Watertown Chief of Police Justin Hanrahan. According to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, police were called to a bus stop in the area on Tuesday around 5:15 p.m. after multiple 911 calls reported a disturbance.
Upon arrival, the police discovered a man who had suffered injuries to his face and head, alongside two stab wounds on his back. As reported by the victim, after a vehicle had been driven by several times, three masked assailants stepped out, questioned his origins, and then proceeded to attack him, punching, kicking, and stabbing. The three fled the scene in their car shortly after, leaving the victim, who was later treated at a local hospital and released. The Middlesex District Attorney's Office states McGhee has been arraigned with a host of charges, including assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, among others. "He was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for November 1, 2024," as per a statement obtained by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. The investigation remains active and ongoing, a partnership effort between local police and the DA's office, with Maryrose Robson serving as the prosecutor and Arianne Dubina as the Victim Witness Advocate.
The arraignment of McGhee took place in Waltham District Court against the adolescent, who authorities said was part of the disturbing incident.
