Empowerment and engagement are on the agenda in Butler County as the Women’s Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation unveils "Appointed 101: An Intro to Civic Engagement for Women." This free event, created in partnership with local organizations, will provide an introductory pathway for women interested in taking a more active role in the region's civic affairs and board service. Scheduled for October 19, from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, the session will be hosted at The Lodge at Voice of America MetroPark. According to the City of Hamilton Foundation's recent announcement, space is limited, and registration is necessary, so attendees are encouraged to secure their spots quickly.
Recognizing the need to boost local governance with diverse voices, "Appointed" aims to inform and practically guide women on how to apply to serve on various civic boards in the area. According to the City of Hamilton, the program is a collaboration between the Women’s Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and MetroParks of Butler County. It's also receiving active support from the Northern Cincinnati Foundation, The Women’s Fund of the Hamilton Foundation, and the Middletown Community Foundation. The goal is to readily connect participants with networking opportunities and establish peer partnerships that may support their eventual board service.
The event promises a comprehensive introduction to civic engagement, encompassing sessions detailing boards' various roles, the importance of such positions, and the process of applying for these posts. According to the City of Hamilton, by offering a roadmap and democratizing information access, the "Appointed" program is poised to potentially transform the face of local civic leadership, driving it towards inclusivity and balanced representation.
Women in the Greater Cincinnati area seem ready to take this opportunity to diversify the discourse around civic leadership and enhance public decision-making processes with fresh perspectives.
