The City of Carrollton is gearing up to quickly transform its historical downtown into a bustling festival ground for the 14th annual Festival at the Switchyard, scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 2. According to the City of Carrollton, the free one-day event will run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 1106 S. Broadway Street, promising attendees an eclectic array of entertainment, food, and activities suitable for the entire family.

Headlined by the Grammy-award-winning rock band The Wallflowers, with alternative rock band Deep Blue Something opening, the festival has confirmed an all-day entertainment lineup that is poised to draw major crowds. Besides the headlining acts, the schedule boasts a series of performances by local talents such as the Newman Smith High School Troy Singers, the School of Rock (Dallas), and several other artists serving up various music genres throughout the day. Each year, the event consistently attracts upwards of 35,000-40,000 people, and this year is expected to be no exception.

Aside from the musical performances, the festival will provide a diverse range of attractions including free rides like bungee trampolines, a zip line, and a giant fun slide. For the younger attendees, there are carnival games, a kids' craft area, inflatable structures, and face painting, which are all free of charge. As the organizers have reminded, lines for rides and games will close at 7 p.m., so early participation is recommended, especially for popular attractions such as face painting and balloon twisting booths, which shutter earlier at 6 p.m.

Food connoisseurs and shoppers can also indulge in an array of vendor offerings. With a variety of food stands serving up festival favorites alongside local artisan booths showcasing jewelry, art, and other crafted goods, the festival presents a chance to not just sate appetites but also to potentially get a head start on holiday shopping.
