In recent storms in Charlotte County, local authorities have made changes to the distribution of Info Hubs, making it easier for residents to access important resources and support. The Englewood Charlotte Public Library has become the new location for one such hub, previously situated at the now-closed Port Charlotte Public Library.
As per the county's announcement, the three operational Info Hubs can be found at the Ann & Chuck Dever Regional Park Recreation Center located at 6961 San Casa Drive., the Englewood Charlotte Public Library at 3450 North Access Rd., and the South County Regional Park Recreation Center, which stands at 670 Cooper St., Punta Gorda. These locations not only serve the immediate information needs but also facilitate interactions with FEMA and provide essential amenities for storm-hit citizens.
According to a release from Charlotte County's official website, the South County Regional Park Recreation Center hosts both a FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) and a comfort station. The former offers dedicated aid for disaster recovery from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, while the latter presents services such as laundry, showers, and restrooms from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., also operating daily. These extended hours aim to ensure that as many residents as possible can benefit from these recuperative facilities.
The Info Hubs are marked white newspaper stands that hold flyers with current information on recovery efforts, relief programs, and resources for residents and businesses affected by the storm. The Englewood Charlotte Public Library and the Ann & Chuck Dever Regional Park Recreation Center are open during regular hours, continuing to support the community's recovery.
