Charlotte County's efforts to gradually reopen public spaces are progressing, with several parks now accessible to locals. While this brings a sense of routine to the community, many amenities remain off-limits, such as playgrounds and boat ramps, according to the Charlotte County.
Notably open is Ainger Creek Park, a favorite for serene walks, and Allapatchee Shores Park, known for its waterfront views. Ann & Chuck Dever Regional Park is also open, although Football Field 2 and the Cricket and Sand Volleyball areas remain closed. Among the reopened parks, Carmalita Park and Harold Avenue Regional Park have opened to the public, albeit with some limitations. Softball Fields 2, 4, and 5 at Carmalita Park and Baseball Fields 1 and 4 at Harold Avenue Regional Park remain closed until further notice, leaving part of the athletic fields unavailable. Centennial Park’s Fishing Pier is open for anglers, but its Sand Volleyball court will remain closed for now, as reported by the Charlotte County.
Charlotte County recognizes the need for outdoor activities and is working to accommodate residents while balancing public health concerns with the community's desire for recreational spaces. Englewood East Park and the Cape Haze Pioneer Trail offer additional options for outdoor enjoyment. However, when planning your park visit, remember that some amenities may still be closed, so check the latest updates on the county's official website.
