Parents and community members expressed their reservations regarding Castagna's hiring at the Chartiers Valley announcement meeting, with Leslie Klapperich highlighting a lack of openness from the board, alleging, "They did not publish the name of the candidate, to let us know who they were going to vote in," as per CBS News Pittsburgh. These concerns were further exacerbated by Castagna's history, including his previous termination from the West Mifflin Area School District and the legal battles that ensued.
