Yesterday morning, an unusual vehicle led Healdsburg Police on a chase that ended with a collision and an arrest. At roughly 2:41 AM, officers received a report concerning a suspicious white decommissioned school bus in the Vineyard Shopping Center, an alert triggered by a vigilant delivery driver. When police attempted to investigate, the bus driver chose to flee, initiating a pursuit that would lead onto Highway 101.
According to the Healdsburg Police Department's social media update, the chase concluded north of Cloverdale with the driver colliding into a center median. The suspect in this incident has been identified as Robert King, a 45-year-old resident of Clearlake. Following the crash, King was detained and received medical care at a local hospital for any sustained injuries.
King now faces serious charges stemming from the escapade, including felony vehicular evasion and driving under the influence of a substance. Post-medical clearance, the suspect was booked into Sonoma County Jail, removing any immediate risk he may have posed on the roads.
