In the small Michigan village of Climax, Adam Lyons has been charged with the murder of Nichole Marie Doerschler and her dog, an incident that has shockingly disrupted the community of over 700 residents. As reported by WWMT, Lyons faces charges of murder, killing an animal, and two felony weapons counts after Doerschler was found with a gunshot wound to her head on Saturday night.
After the alleged shooting, Lyons reportedly called 911 from North Main Street to admit to the crime and threatened to also take his own life. According to a MLive article, the operator during the call noted Lyons was "crying, ranting and raving" and mentioned he would "F--- up" whoever came to the scene, which indicates a distressed state of the suspect at the time.
Kalamazoo County Prosecuting Attorney Jeff Getting emphasized the disturbing nature of domestic relationships turning lethal, a pattern much too common in society. He sadly reflected on the incident stating, "In these kinds of incidents, what we’re seeing are domestic relationships that have ultimately ended in the murder of one person by another," as obtained by WWMT. The exact motive for the crime remains unknown.
During a somber arraignment before Judge Alisa Parker-LaGrone, bond for Lyons was denied. He was found outside leaning against a fence with loaded firearms close to him, according to MLive. Additional weapons were discovered inside his home. Doerschler was identified as Lyons' girlfriend of a few months, confirming the incident as domestic in nature, as detailed by WZZM 13. Lyons is scheduled to return to court on November 7 for his probable cause conference.
