In Cochise County, a ballot error has affected Precinct 50 (DO Grande, Douglas), where the race for District 2 Supervisor was mistakenly omitted from early voting ballots. According to a county announcement, 118 active voters are affected, and the election team is working to print and send out corrected ballots by the end of the week.
As the county addresses the issue, voters from the affected precinct are encouraged to check their ballots to ensure they include the District 2 race. The error has specifically affected 78 early ballots that have already been sent out. To maintain voting integrity, officials state that only one ballot per voter will be counted; if both an incorrect and a revised ballot are received, only the revised one will be counted. Importantly, earlier testing of the voting equipment on October 2 showed that the county's system was functioning correctly.
On Election Day, corrected ballots will be available at voting centers for those wishing to vote in person. The Cochise County Elections team aims to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to vote and that the integrity of the process is maintained. The incorrect ballots have prompted an additional logic and accuracy test, which was conducted earlier today at 8:30 a.m., to confirm the reliability of the system following the error.
