On October 26th, Coppell residents can rid their homes of unwanted medications during the DEA National Drug Takeback Day. The local event, part of a nationwide initiative, aims to provide a safe, convenient, and anonymous means of disposing of prescription drugs while also educating the general public about the potential for medication abuse. It's scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 130 Town Center Blvd.
According to the Coppell Police Department's Facebook page, this drive-through event simplifies the process for participants—all they are required to do is drive through and drop off the medications, no questions asked. In the printed instructions included with most medications, a proper disposal method is seldom provided, making this DEA-led effort particularly significant.
While the event focuses on collecting pills and patches, liquids, needles, or sharps will not be accepted. The service is free of charge and anonymous, and participants are not required to provide personal information when dropping off their medications.
