
A disturbing crime unfolded in Costa Mesa as Daniel Allen Aldrich, 49, was arrested for the murder of Julie Anne Sanetra, 38, found deceased in a trash bin at the 1900 block of Maple Avenue. According to a news release by the Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD), the discovery was made on Tuesday, shortly before 2:30 p.m., prompting a swift investigation. Initially withholding the names to protect identities and the integrity of the case, details emerged following Aldrich's arrest that the victim and suspect, although initially described as friends, were indeed in a relationship.
Upon first responders arriving at the scene, the unfortunate reality set in as CMPD officers located Sanetra's body. ABC7 reported that detectives were quick to piece together the narrative, pinpointing Aldrich as the suspect. The arrest unfolded at the home of a family member in Glendale, with the help of the Glendale Police Department. This collaboration was crucial, allowing to swiftly apprehend Aldrich, which was later detailed in a statement obtained by Nixle.
"It's spooky, it's distressing," Riley Austin, a resident near the crime scene, told CBS News. Some neighbors mentioned never seeing activity at the house, adding to the eerie nature of the crime.
