A 43-year-old man who admitted to narrating the sexual assault of a 14-year-old on video has been handed a 20-year federal prison sentence, as announced by U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Leigha Simonton. Vincent Jerome Thompson and his coconspirator, 46-year-old Lukumond Adebola Olatunji, were indicted earlier in January 2022, with Thompson pleading guilty in June 2024 to the production of child pornography and aiding and abetting, while Olatunji entered a guilty plea for kidnapping a minor two months after. On Wednesday, Mr. Thompson received his sentence from U.S. District Judge Ed Kinkeade, which includes a subsequent lifetime term of supervised release and obligatory sex offender registration. Sentencing for Mr. Olatunji is set for December.
"No child deserves to suffer the degradation this child endured," stated U.S. Attorney Simonton, as per the U.S. Department of Justice. Calling out the "callousness of the defendant’s commentary", Simonton emphasized the shock to the conscience dealt with by the victim's pleading in the video to be released. Travis Pickard, Special Agent in Charge of HSI Dallas, highlighted the commitment to protect minors, vowing steadfast efforts by HSI to apprehend those who abuse society's most vulnerable.
In the disturbing events recounted by plea papers, the men acknowledged that on October 23, 2021, after offering the 14-year-old girl a ride, they drove her to an alley to conduct the assault. It was Thompson who filmed and commented on the crime as Mr. Olatunji sexually abused the girl in the car's backseat. The young victim's appeals of "I don’t want to do it no more" and “can we go?” were heard clearly in the footage, as per the U.S. Department of Justice.
Following the initial assault, both men transported the child to a motel, continuing their sexual abuse for approximately five hours. Once freed, the child exited the motel hastily, clutching her backpack and shoes, finding her way out of a nightmare. Responding police discovered the grim residue of the crime: condom wrappers and drug paraphernalia. Confessing the sexual acts, Olatunji even admitted the victim's repeated refusals. The additional detail from Wednesday's sentencing hearing, shared by the prosecutor, was that the child is intellectually disabled, compounding the atrocity with a layer of inexpressible vulnerability.
This case was undertaken by Homeland Security Investigation’s Dallas Field Office in collaboration with the Dallas Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jenna Rudoff and former Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Magliolo have been lauded for their efforts in the prosecution of the case.
