Yesterday, a Dallas Police Department officer found himself on the wrong side of the law. Officer Austin Garza, badge number 12400, was arrested in connection with an off-duty incident involving criminal mischief. The type of misdemeanor he's being charged with is the sort that could earn someone a year or less in county jail.
The Dallas Police Department confirmed the arrest and elaborated that the warrant was issued by the Glenn Heights Police Department.
Assigned to the Northeast Patrol Division, Officer Garza joined the police force in June of 2022 and now waits as the Department's gears grind through the internal investigation process. Having served for over two years on the force, Officer Garza was off-duty during the time of the offense and is now placed on administrative leave.
