The National Weather Service in Knoxville issued an early morning weather update today, indicating the presence of dense fog with visibility reduced to a mere quarter of a mile. As per the forecast, locals can expect increasing clouds with a high near 58 degrees and calm winds shifting northwest in the afternoon. Tonight's forecast suggests a slim chance of showers before 11 pm and a dip in temperatures to a low of around 37 degrees.
The remainder of the week appears to offer a mix of patchy frost and sunny days. Wednesday morning may start with frost before giving way to a sunny day with a high near 57, while Thursday and Friday will follow suit with morning frost and highs reaching 62 and 67 degrees, respectively. The area looks set to enjoy clear night skies throughout.
In addition, there's a touch of winter on the horizon for higher elevations. As posted by the National Weather Service, snow and sleet could dust the highest mountains late today and into tonight. Elevations above 4000 feet might see up to an inch of snow, a hint of the season's change. The NWS anticipates a low risk of dangerous conditions from Wednesday through Monday.
