Detroit's efforts to prepare its citizens and businesses for emergencies have stepped up with rigorous evacuation drills conducted by the Detroit Fire Department. According to the City of Detroit's official news portal, Captain Edward Davis from DFD’s Public Instruction Unit commended Bedrock for its diligence and cooperation in carrying out regular evacuation exercises at their properties. "It’s clear Bedrock means business when it comes to safety," he said, highlighting the importance of these drills in safeguarding the community.

Chuck Wilson, chief security officer at Rock Security & Bedrock, emphasized the priority they place on the well-being of everyone in their buildings. "Working alongside the skilled first responders at the Detroit Fire Department ensures that we can fulfill this mission and maintain the integrity of our properties throughout Detroit," Wilson said, as per the City of Detroit. With a scheduled end soon for the 2024 season, the Detroit Fire Department has been active, completing drills at around 60 high-rise buildings and more than 15 senior facilities.

The city's dedication is evident in the requirement outlined in the Detroit City Charter, which mandates that buildings perform two evacuation drills each calendar year and keep a record of them. According to the city's news release, these exercises are critical for emergency preparedness and are carefully evaluated by the Public Instruction Unit between April and October. Furthermore, buildings’ security teams undergo internal training to ensure they are equipped to handle unforeseen circumstances, despite not being briefed on the exact timing of the drills to mimic real emergencies more closely.
