As the 2024 General Election draws near, Douglas County has opened its doors early to assist voters with a slew of services via its Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPC). Beginning Monday, October 21, residents seeking to vote in person, use ADA-accessible voting machines, or replace their ballot can flock to four VSPC locations, "Douglas County Kirk Hall, 500 Fairgrounds Road, Castle Rock, Douglas County Parks and Trails Division, 9651 S. Quebec St. and Northridge Recreation Center, 8800 S. Broadway, both in Highlands Ranch, and Parker Library, 20105 E. Mainstreet, Parker," according to Douglas County.
These initial venues, with staff ready to offer assistance, will stay open on weekdays until November 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, November 2, during the same hours. To accommodate voters, they will also serve the public on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Together, nine additional VSPCs will open their doors on Friday, November 1, and another eight on Monday, November 4, culminating in a total of 21 by Election Day, "Tuesday, Nov. 5," the county website stated.
Notably, for those who have yet to register, Colorado election law permits registration through Election Day. "If you live in Douglas County, plan to vote in the General Election, and are not registered to vote, please visit a VSPC between now and Election Day, Nov. 5, to register to vote," as noted by Douglas County, indicating that the county is making ample room for all voices yearning to be heard in the ballot box.
For voters dodging the lines or not in need of in-person aid, a web of secure 24/7 ballot drop boxes has been weaved across the county, with 21 free locations to deliver their ballots. As affirmed by the county's announcement, Safe, secure ballot drop boxes are available 24/7 now through 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 5, allowing for a straightforward method of ensuring one's vote is counted without setting foot inside a VSPC.
