On Friday afternoon, a car accident on U.S. 10 led to one man being injured after his vehicle collided with a tow truck. The incident occurred near mile marker 136 when a 29-year-old driver, travelling at a speed of around 80 miles per hour, rear-ended the tow truck that had stopped in the left lane, as reported by WNEM.

The sheer force of the crash necessitated the rescue services to cut the man from his car, in a delicate operation that did not take lightly the precariousness of his position pressed between what was left of metal and fate, he was then transported to a local hospital for medical treatment; fortunately, his injuries were described as "not too severe." The Michigan State Police highlighted this incident as a stark reminder of the dangers of excessive speed, in a statement obtained by MSP Third District's social media post, “Risky driving behaviors lead to preventable crashes,” said F/Lt Mike Shaw, Public Information Officer.

The freeway was temporarily closed for investigation as authorities worked to clear the scene and conduct necessary evaluations, ensuring safety protocols were adhered to and aiming to prevent such incidents from recurring through public awareness and enforcement strategies.

As of now, no other injuries have been reported in relation to this incident, and the driver's condition appears to be stable according to officials. Further details about the crash are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
