On Friday afternoon, a car accident on U.S. 10 led to one man being injured after his vehicle collided with a tow truck. The incident occurred near mile marker 136 when a 29-year-old driver, travelling at a speed of around 80 miles per hour, rear-ended the tow truck that had stopped in the left lane, as reported by WNEM.
The sheer force of the crash necessitated the rescue services to cut the man from his car, in a delicate operation that did not take lightly the precariousness of his position pressed between what was left of metal and fate, he was then transported to a local hospital for medical treatment; fortunately, his injuries were described as "not too severe." The Michigan State Police highlighted this incident as a stark reminder of the dangers of excessive speed, in a statement obtained by MSP Third District's social media post, “Risky driving behaviors lead to preventable crashes,” said F/Lt Mike Shaw, Public Information Officer.
