Early morning tensions at an apartment complex in southeast Oklahoma City escalated into violence over the weekend, leaving two individuals injured. According to a report from KOCO 5, the Oklahoma City Police Department received a distress call around 4:30 a.m. yesterday, about possible gunfire at the complex located near Southeast 66th Street and Phillips Avenue. Authorities arrived to find two people sustaining injuries. Despite initial reports, further investigation revealed that the injuries sustained were not gunshot wounds, and a BB gun was discovered at the scene.
The initial confusion regarding the nature of the incident was compounded by simultaneous reports suggesting a shooting had occurred. KFOR had earlier reported that both victims were found with gunshot wounds at a residence in the same vicinity. Police, at the time, did not provide details regarding the condition of the injured parties or any potential suspects involved. This report, along with another by News 9, contributed to the initial belief that a shooting had taken place.
However, as the Oklahoma City Police Department clarified today, the incident was not a gunfire exchange but rather a physical altercation. The two individuals were treated for their injuries, which were now established to be non-life-threatening. The details surrounding the fight, including the motives and the identities of those involved, remain under investigation. The police have not released any information regarding arrests or charges at this time, as per KOCO.
Authorities continue to urge anyone with information connected to the event to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
