Pima County residents who prefer not to wait for the designated voting day can take advantage of early voting, which began on Wednesday. As stated in Pima County’s official newsroom, while the General Election is set for November 5, voters can make their voices heard starting now.
The early voting process began with the Pima County Recorder’s Office opening three voting locations and mailing ballots to those who requested them. The Recorder’s website serves as a hub for election information, providing access to maps of early and Election Day vote centers, sample ballots, and important dates for voters. To stay informed and receive real-time election updates, voters can also follow Pima County on their social media platforms.
This year's election requires some extra preparation for voters. The ballot is quite extensive, featuring two cards that encompass 34 races for elected offices, 13 statewide propositions, and possibly up to six additional local and school propositions. Voters are reminded by the county's news outlet to "vote both cards, vote both sides."
When preparing to vote, it's advisable to do your research. Taking some time to learn about the candidates and propositions is beneficial, as voters can bring their sample ballots or notes into the voting booth at a Vote Center, helping them make informed choices. The Recorder's Office has opened three locations for those who wish to cast their ballots early, with additional sites expected to open in the coming weeks. These locations are open to voters from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
For those who prefer voting from home, the Active Early Voting List allows voters to receive a ballot by mail. A quick check of one’s voter registration status can confirm eligibility. To request a ballot by mail, voters must do so by October 25, with a recommended return date of October 29 to ensure their votes are counted. Additionally, in-person early voting options are available for those who wish to cast their ballot directly at any of the Vote Centers in Pima County.
On Election Day, November 5, there will be 126 Vote Centers open across Pima County from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., allowing voters to choose any center that is convenient for them, regardless of their precinct. Residents are encouraged to visit the county recorder's website for information on Vote Centers, as well as to access maps and lists detailing propositions and ballot options for both early and Election Day voting.
