The Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit had a busy day on October 15, as they maneuvered between detaining wanted individuals and executing a search warrant. With precision timing, the team intercepted a stolen vehicle bearing two suspects with existing warrants at 645 Louis Street, the very address due for a search, as reported by the City of Eugene. The suspects, 49-year-old Gary Lee Walls, and 38-year-old Dana Marie Stucky were respectively dropped off and then apprehended at the residence, disrupting the SCU's original plans.
According to a press release from the Eugene Police, officers from the EPD Patrol were called to assist with stopping the stolen vehicle after Walls had left the location. The report stated that Walls was taken into custody without incident and subsequently lodged at Lane County Jail under Case 24-15632. In a stroke missed by no one, before his arrest, Walls had been on the phone with Dana Marie Stucky, who upon leaving the house was detained at the traffic stop. Stucky was taken into custody for her outstanding warrant and ATLs, under Case 24-15625.
Meanwhile, Hali Sue Stucky—a 60-year-old resident of the Louis Street home and the primary subject of the search warrant—also found her way to the traffic stop and was taken into custody. Not revealed was the nature of her involvement that led SCU to her doorstep.
With all involved parties whisked from the scene, the Eugene Police conducted their search of the empty home. The SCU's handling of the situation, shifted gears as it unfolded live through the streets, culminating in the seizure of undisclosed drugs and a firearm. The initial chaos did not affect their ability to steer the task at hand – executing a search warrant which took place without incident once all the suspects were detained, the City of Eugene noted.
