Yesterday, 13-year-old Matt Garcia, a student at Career and College Academy, was at the center of a police response in Fairfield after reports surfaced of an online threat he allegedly posted. The Fairfield Police Department acted swiftly alongside school officials to identify the student, responding to the incident immediately after receiving the notification at 12:17 PM.
Officers searched the student, his locker, and his home, finding no weapons but uncovering some potential clues to a motive. As a result, Garcia was cited for "making terrorist threats and disrupting the school environment," according to the Fairfield Police Department. Despite the initial alarm, the investigation revealed no immediate danger to students or staff.
The event has reignited discussions about school security and the importance of vigilance. The Fairfield Police Department emphasized their commitment to safety, stating that they, along with the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, "take any threats of violence extremely seriously" and remain focused on "maintaining a safe and secure environment for all students and staff."
