A local Fallbrook man, Randal Scott Vance, faces several charges after law enforcement uncovered a sizable psilocybin mushroom operation last Friday. Vance was nabbed during an early morning warrant service at a business in Fallbrook and a residence in Bonsall. The search was part of an ongoing investigation by the Crime Suppression Team of the Fallbrook Sheriff's Substation and the Sheriff's Marijuana Enforcement Team, as reported by the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

In the sweep, deputies seized more than 250 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms and 40 pounds of psilocybin mushroom chocolate candy, alongside other substances like Ecstasy, LSD, and what is suspected to be Ketamine. This assortment of drugs is valued at an upward of $200,000. The San Diego County Sheriff's Office revealed that Vance is accused of child endangerment and illegal possession, production, and transportation of controlled substances with intent to distribute, among other health and firearm violations.

When serving the warrants at the 200 block of West Ash Street and the 1600 block of West Lilac Road, authorities also found two rifles and four handguns. Vance was charged with being armed during the commission of drug offenses, a serious felony that compounds his legal challenges. Psilocybin is deemed a Schedule 1 Drug under the Controlled Substances Act due to its high potential for abuse and lack of accepted medical use in the nation, making the operation particularly egregious in the eyes of the law.
