Tragedy struck late Friday night on Van Buren Boulevard in Jurupa Valley, where a two-vehicle collision claimed one life and left two others with injuries. At around 10:26 p.m., deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station were called to the scene south of Jurupa Road. Upon arrival, they found the driver and particular sole occupant of one of the vehicles deceased. The other driver and their passenger were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As detailed in a report by Sergeant Andrew Sullivan, the response team quickly went to work to determine the cause of the collision, which at this stage includes the possibility of impairment by alcohol and/or drugs. To facilitate a thorough investigation, Van Buren Boulevard underwent temporary closure between Jurupa Road and 56th Street. This allowed traffic investigators to systematically process the accident scene and collect evidence.
The deceased driver's identity remains withheld as authorities are still in the process of notifying the next of kin. The law enforcement officers on the case, fervently piecing together the events that transpired on that fateful night, encourage witnesses or anyone with pertinent information to come forward. Contact points have been provided via Deputy Chavez of the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station or through the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch.
