Five individuals who once struggled with substance use and faced the justice system have graduated from the Cobb County Drug Treatment Court. The ceremony, filled with tears and laughter, celebrated their success and was attended by judges, community members, and supportive families and friends, according to Cobb County Superior Court News.

The program lasts 18 to 24 months and combines strict supervision with tailored recovery support and evidence-based treatment to help offenders reform and become productive citizens. One graduate described the experience as a roller coaster ride, stating it ultimately taught them to manage life's challenges without turning to substance use, as per Cobb County Superior Court News.

Superior Court Judge Kimberly A. Childs oversees the Drug Treatment Court with a multi-disciplinary team managing the program. The graduation ceremony celebrated the graduates and demonstrated the precinct's commitment to evidence-based recovery methods in the criminal justice system. After the ceremony, Judge Childs emphasized the graduates' successes as a reflection of the community's dedication to supporting individuals facing substance use disorders.

Cobb County is committed to helping its citizens break free from addiction and crime. As Judge Childs noted after the ceremony, "these graduates exemplify the need for and importance of an evidence-based recovery and treatment program in our criminal justice system.  Our community should be proud of the commitment Cobb County has to helping those with substance use disorder transform their lives. Through the efforts of our dedicated team and with the continued support of our stakeholders, these 5 graduates are now sober, independent and productive members of our society," Childs explained in Cobb County Superior Court News.
