
A Folsom neighborhood experienced a disruption this morning due to a gas leak that led to evacuations and a shelter-in-place order for a nearby elementary school. The Folsom Fire Department reported that a construction crew accidentally cut a two-inch gas line on Walden Drive around 9:33 a.m., according to a FOX40 report.
In response, an area including part of Kerslake Circle and Walden Drive was evacuated. After the leak was reported by the construction crew, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) was immediately dispatched to the scene to address the issue alongside fire personnel. Crews on site, working with fire officials, quickly managed the situation. They ensured residents were evacuated and that students at Gold Ridge Elementary were secured in place., as shared by the CBS News affiliate.
The situation was quickly brought under control, with PG&E securing the leak shortly after 11 a.m. Emergency orders, which had disrupted the morning for residents and students, were lifted soon after. The evacuation order and shelter in place for Gold Ridge Elementary were rescinded around 11:15 a.m., marking a return to normalcy. Walden Drive was closed to traffic to facilitate repairs to the damaged gas line. Residents were allowed to return home by 11:02 a.m.
