In a recently detailed social media post by the Folsom Police Department, an incident of shoplifting turned into a brief chase and resulted in multiple arrests. Folsom police were alerted to a theft on Thursday at a store located in the 13000 Block of Folsom Blvd, which prompted an immediate response by the department's Problem Oriented Policing (POP) team around 5:18 p.m., as mentioned by the Folsom Police Department.
The officers identified the suspect vehicle attempting to leave the area, which initiated a short pursuit. As the chase ended with the vehicle stopping in a nearby neighborhood, three of the five occupants attempted to escape on foot. The Folsom police then set up a perimeter, and with the help of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) helicopter, all five suspects were soon in custody.
Subsequent to their apprehension, more than $2,300 worth of goods believed to have been stolen from the aforementioned location were retrieved and returned. The arrestees included Diamond Joyner, 20, and Avamarie Almand, 23, both from Sacramento; they were booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail, while the remaining suspects, juveniles, were taken to the Sacramento County Juvenile Hall. They are facing charges related to organized retail theft, as per penal code 490.4(A)(2).
The Folsom Police Department extended gratitude to the CHP for their aid from above, a combination of efforts that led to a "quick and safe resolution to this incident." The effectiveness of the collaboration was evident in the timely capture of the suspects and the recovery of the stolen merchandise, indicating a well-coordinated inter-agency operation.
