An incident at Eastpointe High School has led to serious felony charges against a former security guard. Darieon Craig Lamar Webster, 26, from Detroit, has been accused of engaging in sexual activity with a student at the high school.
The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office has charged Webster with two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Third Degree following an incident alleged to have occurred on Tuesday. The details surrounding the event have not been fully disclosed, but authorities are investigating the claims, which are believed to have taken place on the school's property. The school district was made aware of the "inappropriate consensual relationship" on Wednesday, and swiftly initiated an investigation and involved law enforcement, as reported by The Detroit News.
After being arraigned, Webster's bond was set at $150,000 cash/surety. The conditions, should he post bond, include being required to wear a steel GPS tether, having no contact with minors, and being barred from accessing the internet. Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido emphasized the gravity of the situation, saying, "This is a serious breach of trust and responsibility. When someone in a position of authority abuses that trust, it harms not only the victim but the entire community," as per WWJ Newsradio.
As the case moves forward, Webster's legal representation remains unlisted in online court records. He stood mute during the arraignment, and a plea of not guilty was entered by the court. His next court appearance is a Probable Cause Hearing scheduled for October 30 at 8:00 am. Each charge carries a severe potential sentence of up to 15 years, underscoring the case's serious nature. The district and Ricco Security, the company providing the security staffing, have yet to fully comment on the proceedings, with Ricco Security not immediately responding to requests for comments, according to The Detroit News.
