Fort Worth is buzzing with the news of a potential eco-collaboration that could bring even more green space under the Botanical Institute of Texas Inc. (BRIT) watchful eye. The BRIT presented an update on their stewardship of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden at a City Council session yesterday, highlighting the past achievements and future ambitions, which may include a joint endeavor with the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge. Attendance at the Garden has surged from 132,000 guests in 2020 to over 418,000 in 2023, according to the City of Fort Worth.

Operating on City funds and the profits generated through various avenues like the gift shop, rentals, admissions, and donations, BRIT has already begun to make waves. The fiscal year 2023 report shed light on the organization's determination to secure the aesthetic splendor of the FWBG and genuinely uplift its educational prowess, benefiting a sea of young minds. With a capital improvement program funded by the City, BRIT has been able to initiate renovations eagerly anticipated to unfold in the following years.

"As we have looked at the last three years in our partnership with the City, it has been a tremendous partnership. It's been incredible, and that makes us look to the Nature Center. They're doing amazing things and we want to be able to be a part of it," Patrick Newsman, BRIT president and CEO, expressed in a statement, as per the City of Fort Worth. The envisioned alignment with the Nature Center & Refuge is not just about enhancing its appeal but also about confronting the pressing biodiversity crisis head-on.
