In the early hours before dawn on Sunday, Fort Worth's Fire Department was called into urgent action as flames engulfed the local Iglesia Adventista Del Septimo Dia. The church, located in the 2700 Block of NW 30th Street, reportedly caught fire shortly before 4:00 am. According to a post by the Fort Worth Fire Department, multiple callers reached out to the Alarm Office to report the incident.
Upon arrival at the scene, Engine 15 was met with "heavy fire in the rear of the church extending into the storage area behind the altar." The crew maneuvered through hazardous conditions, including arcing wires from a compromised electrical pole nearby, and launched a quick interior attack to stop the fire from spreading further. Their effort contained the blaze to the rear section of the church, although it had already extended into the roof area, as per the Fort Worth Fire Department.
With the power cut off to the building, a strategic cut in the metal/aluminum siding was made by firefighters to access and extinguish a hidden fire beside the electrical conduit. Photos depicting this specific action were included in the department's statement. The building incurred smoke damage throughout, and the sanctuary altar area, in particular, sustained significant damage. Luckily, there were no injuries reported as the church was closed at the time of the fire.
