Residents in west Fort Worth with a backlog of citations have an upcoming opportunity to quickly resolve their cases. The Fort Worth Municipal Court is set to host its last Court in the Community/Warrant Forgiveness event of the year on Saturday, providing a chance for individuals to appear at Blue Haze Elementary School, from 9 a.m. to noon, to address outstanding citations. According to an announcement from the City of Fort Worth, anyone with cases about traffic, ordinance, and penal code violations can engage without the fear of arrest.
The event is specifically tailored for those with Class C criminal cases. Court Director William Rumuly underscored the court's intention to ease the resolution process, stating, "We are a Safe Harbor Court, meaning we do not arrest persons who come voluntarily to see us on their outstanding cases." The court aims to see as many as 120 people on a first-come, first-served basis. For individuals looking for more information, they are advised to call 817-392-6700.
In addition to the legal assistance, community partners like Goodwill North Central Texas will be present to offer various services including employment opportunities and job readiness training. Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas will also be available for general civil intake services. These include family law, landlord/tenant disputes, and more, adding a layer of community support for those who may need to quickly familiarize themselves with legal and job-related advice.
