The Grand Rapids Police Department, after months of investigation, has finally apprehended Ronald Armour Jr., age 38, on charges of open murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Armour is the principal suspect in the June 29 homicide of Jeremy Parnell, 35, who succumbed to a bullet wound to the chest. As FOX 17 reported, the shooting occurred near Ardmore Street and Thelma Avenue in Grand Rapids.

According to witnesses, the incident took place after a birthday party that saw guests sprawling quickly to flee the scene when gunshots were heard. Responding to the chaotic aftermath, friends and relatives of Parnell struggled to significantly reconnect with him for hours. As detailed by WZZM 13, Parnell's sister eventually discovered his vehicle nearby; tragically, he was found fatally wounded inside.

Further inquiry brought forward a witness who asserted that she saw Armour engaged in an argument, which escalated to him drawing a gun and shooting Parnell. Court documents and police statements found in reports by FOX 17 reveal that she later identified Armour as the assailant in a photo lineup. Contradictory accounts came from Armour's relation, stating he heard gunshots and subsequently fired his weapon in the air before finding Armour in a scuffle with another individual, holding a gun that accidently went off during the altercation.

"This arrest is the result of months’ of dedicated work by our GRPD detectives," said Chief Eric Winstrom, expressing his hopes that this development might bring some solace to the victim's family, in statements obtained by both WZZM 13 and WWMT Newschannel 3. The suspect has since refuted claims of carrying or discharging a gun that night, alleging to police that he managed to solely defend himself with his arms before fleeing the area.
