
A Hastings man has been confirmed dead following a head-on collision in Irving Township, Barry County, according to multiple reports. The tragic event occurred on Friday, before 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of State and Wood School roads. FOX 17 reported that Tristin Prentice, aged 23, lost his life when his Mercury Milan, traveling southbound, swerved across the centerline and collided with a Lincoln Navigator.
Authorities pronounced Prentice dead at the scene, while the Navigator's driver, a 41-year-old Clarksville woman, was transported to a hospital. The extent of her injuries has not been publicly disclosed, the Barry County Sheriff’s Office provided admissions to WOOD TV. The Barry County Sheriff's Office credits the prompt response and assistance of local dispatchers, the Hastings Fire Department, Mercy Ambulance, and the Barry County Road Commission in the wake of the crash.
As per the officials, the crash remains under investigation to determine its precise cause, and further details might be disclosed as the process moves forward. Meanwhile, the intersection of State and Wood School roads was the inexplicable stage for a change of fate for two drivers on an otherwise ordinary Friday afternoon.
