Metro Transit is reaching out to the community for input on its latest initiative, Network Now, which aims to recalibrate the public transport system in response to shifts in ridership and commuting habits traced back to the COVID-19 pandemic. The project's vision is to fine-tune transit routes and services to march in step with the needs of the region through 2027. The transport body wants to hear from citizens on how these proposed changes could affect their daily travels and whether these adjustments would encourage increased use of public transport.
With the understanding that the world we navigate has been transformed by the pandemic, Metro Transit is essentially asking, "Does Metro Transit offer services when and where you need to travel?" According to a recent post by Metro Transit, public opinion is not only solicited but could directly influence the prioritization of service improvements planned through 2027. Feedback can be provided online until Nov. 15.
The agency is not just stopping at online consultations but is facilitating inclusive dialogue through in-person and virtual meetings. Interested parties can attend presentations and participate in discussions. An in-person event already took place on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Hopkins Pavilion, with another scheduled for Oct. 8 at the Minneapolis Central Library. Virtual events are slated for Oct. 7 and Nov. 7, where registration links can be found in the comments of Metro Transit's announcement post.
