Attention drivers: Major closures are set to hit Highway 10 as construction work intensifies. The thoroughfare will be sealed off in both directions from Thurston Avenue to Ramsey Boulevard, starting at 10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, and continuing until 5 a.m. the following morning. This shutdown facilitates concrete pouring for the new Sunfish Lake Boulevard bridge, a crucial piece of the ongoing highway upgrade puzzle. Motorists will be detoured to Bunker Lake Boulevard via Thurston Avenue and Ramsey Boulevard during the hours of closure. For those needing to access businesses like Willy McCoy’s during these overnight hours, a state trooper will direct you at Ramsey Boulevard to a provisional access lane for the Sunfish Commons area.
In addition to the overnight shutdown, there will be daytime disruptions too. The eastbound Highway 10 exit and entrance ramps at Sunfish Lake Boulevard are shuttering from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Thursday, Oct. 10, and Friday, Oct. 11. As crews complete the concrete work, eastbound Highway 10 will narrow to one lane, but access to and from Riverdale Drive remains uninterrupted via right-turn lanes at the former temporary traffic signal.
As this comprehensive renovation unfolds, Anoka County, MnDOT, and the City of Ramsey collaborate to revamp the roads and bridges dotting Highway 10 between Armstrong Boulevard and Sunfish Lake Boulevard. Highway 10 promises smoother traffic, less congestion, and heightened safety for all who traverse it.
For more detailed information on the project and other traffic impacts, residents and travelers can consult the Hwy 10 Ramsey Gateway project webpage.
