As schools in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties prepare to reopen after Hurricane Milton's destruction. Hillsborough County Public Schools announced that students will return to class on Thursday, while staff will come back on Wednesday to prepare the facilities, as reported by WFLA. Although 35 schools were still without power as of Tuesday morning, utility services expect power to be restored within the next 36 hours.

School buses rolled out in Pinellas County early Wednesday morning as schools reopened a week after the hurricane's devastation, according to an ABC Action News report. District staff returned a day earlier to conduct final checks on the buildings and ensure safe transportation for students.

Hillsborough County has extended the first quarter to October 25 to give students more time to complete their grading period, "Our Academic Services team is reviewing the calendar to determine necessary adjustments to make up the required instructional time and we will communicate that at a later date," a district statement obtained by WFLA explained.

In Pinellas County, Superintendent Kevin Hendrick has proposed a plan to make up for academic days lost due to Hurricane Milton. This plan will be discussed at the Pinellas County School Board Workshop scheduled for October 22, as stated by ABC Action News.
