Residents in Hillsborough County looking to dispose of debris from recent storms now have two sites available 24/7. The Hillsborough Heights Solid Waste Facility and Hillsborough County's Resource Recovery Facility have extended their hours to provide round-the-clock debris drop-off starting today at 7 a.m., as reported by the Hillsborough County.

The sites are equipped to accept various types of storm debris, including yard waste and construction and demolition materials such as furniture, drywall, carpet, and fencing. To assist with the cleanup process, the facilities have extended their hours beyond regular business times.

In addition to storm debris, the sites also accept various household items, including furniture, appliances, and hazardous materials like electronics and paint. However, starting tomorrow, access to all solid waste sites will be restricted to Hillsborough County residents only. A photo ID and a current property tax bill will be required for entry, ensuring that the services benefit local taxpayers directly.

While residential access has been expanded, commercial businesses will not have the same privilege. Starting tomorrow, businesses will revert to paying the standard fees for using the Solid Waste facilities. This approach aims to prioritize individual residents during the initial stages of post-storm recovery. Local government officials anticipate that these measures will help expedite the cleanup process and restore normalcy to Hillsborough County neighborhoods.

Other sites, such as Alderman's Ford and Wimauma Solid Waste Facility, while not open 24 hours, continue to serve the community by accepting a range of items. However, they do not process yard waste and wood disposal, a restriction that helps manage the flow and types of waste processed in different areas of the county.
