Hillsborough County is resuming its regular curbside trash, recycling, and yard waste collections after the storm, as announced yesterday on Hillsborough County webitse. Residents are encouraged to be patient, as there may be delays due to lingering street flooding and storm debris obstructing the routes.
For those affected by the storm's disruptions, the next regular pickup day will help restore normalcy, addressing any missed collections. The county's solid waste services have also resumed, quickly picking up yard waste that meets standard requirements, while larger debris requiring specialized haulers may take a bit longer to clear.
Hillsborough County is actively working to clear storm debris from public spaces, utilizing both internal teams and external contractors to expedite the cleanup. They have also provided residents with instructions on how to properly separate and place storm debris to assist in the effort.
The county has also extended the opening hours of its Solid Waste Community Collection Centers, now from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., these centers accept a variety of household items, including furniture, appliances, tires, and electronics. However, it is important to note that the Alderman's Ford and Wimauma facilities do not accept yard waste or wood.
Moreover, the Resource Recovery Facility located at 350 N. Falkenburg Road in Tampa is welcoming residents with yard waste and other household debris (excluding hazardous waste) during the extended hours, offering their services at no charge as the community works together to tidy up after the recent storm disruptions.
