The Hillsborough Police Department is searching for information following two residential burglaries earlier this month. The break-ins, which have shaken the normally tranquil neighborhood, were reported last Friday and yesterday, respectively, according to a Facebook post by the Hillsborough Police Department.
The first incident occurred at 8:58 PM on Joyce Court, where homeowners witnessed two individuals enter their residence and wait approximately two hours before alerting the authorities. "Arriving officers determined that the suspects gained entry by breaking a rear double-pane window on a door in the backyard," the statement from Hillsborough Police Department detailed. The second occurred at an unknown time on Tartan Trail Road, with residents returning home to find their rear glass slider smashed.
To advance their investigations, the Hillsborough Police Department calls upon residents to check their home surveillance footage for any unusual activity during the specified time frames of the burglaries. Hillsborough Police emphasize the importance of home security measures such as burglar alarms, motion sensors, and visible signs of occupancy, like timed lights and TVs left on, to deter potential intruders.
For added community support, HPD offers a VACATION WATCH list, whereby their officers will periodically check on registered homes during the owners' absence. Community members interested in this service or seeking to schedule a free home security evaluation can contact the department directly.
The department has implemented various burglary suppression tactics in its ongoing efforts to clamp down on property crime, leveraging marked and unmarked patrol units alongside license plate reading technology and targeted surveillance. "HPD is actively conducting directed enforcement efforts for the purposes of burglary suppression based on known intelligence," the Hillsborough Police Department's statement clarified.
