The city of Houston is set to continue experiencing high temperatures, with forecasts indicating sunny skies and highs nearing 93 degrees today. The dry heat is coupled with northeast winds around 5 to 10 mph, providing little relief from the record-level warmth for early October, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures are expected to remain elevated throughout the week, with similar conditions enduring through Sunday. Nighttime will bring mostly clear skies and cooler temperatures, dipping to around the mid-60s. However, the slight reprieve in humidity noted by the NWS won't significantly impact the prolonged heat spell Houstonians are bracing for, according to the Heat Index Outlook.

While Texans manage the heat, the NWS Storm Prediction Center has forecasted a calm storm outlook for Houston. "No severe thunderstorm areas forecast," as detailed by SPC's website. The static stability tied to surface high pressure is expected to limit thunderstorm development, offering a break from the more volatile weather patterns experienced in other parts of the country.
The heatwave comes as other parts of the nation observe scattered thunderstorm activity. Far removed from Houston's dry heat, areas of southern New England and the Florida Peninsula may experience thunderstorms as a result of Hurricane Milton. Meanwhile, folks in Houston can anticipate sunny, with a high near the upper 80s to low 90s throughout the remainder of the week, with mostly clear nights and the occasional northeast wind to stir the balmy air.
