A man has been arrested and charged in connection to a stabbing incident that took place at an apartment complex on Hollister Street. The incident occurred late on Sunday night and left one man injured, now recovering from multiple stab wounds, according to a press release by the Houston Police Department.
Miguel Angel Marroquin, 37, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the altercation at 6565 Hollister Street. It began, reportedly, as a verbal argument that quickly escalated to physical violence. Marroquin is alleged to have to quickly transition from arguing to stabbing the 27-year-old victim multiple times. The charges were filed in the 182nd State District Court.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was transported to a nearby hospital following the attack and remains in stable condition. The Houston Police Department's Major Assaults and Family Violence Division detective C. Grahmann reported on the nature of the attack, stating to the City of Houston official website, "The victim and Marroquin were involved in a verbal argument in an apartment at an apartment complex at the above address. The argument escalated into a physical altercation and Marroquin stabbed the victim multiple times."
Houston authorities responded swiftly to the scene. Officers were able to detain Marroquin on-site and, after consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s office, charge him. In an effort to not just punish but to also understand the entirety of the context, detective work continues in piecing together the events leading up to the stabbing. Marroquin has since been booked into the Harris County Jail, with his booking photo now circulating in public records.
