
A fatal two-vehicle collision near Georgetown has prompted an investigation by the Delaware State Police, following the tragic death of a young man. The incident, which occurred on the afternoon of October 10th, involved a heavy Peterbilt truck and a Nissan Sentra, as confirmed by an official report.
According to details shared by the police, the crash took place when the Peterbilt truck attempted a left turn onto Landfill Lane, crossing into the direct path of the Sentra, despite the driver of the Sentra attempting to swerve to avoid the collision, his vehicle made impact with the truck, leading to severe consequences and his eventual passing at a local hospital, said hospital was where he succumbed to his injuries, the name of the 20-year-old victim, a Georgetown resident, has not yet been released pending family notification. The truck driver, hailing from Seaford, reportedly did not sustain injuries in the accident.
The aftermath of the crash led to Hardscrabble Road being closed for about four hours, impeding traffic and necessitating a considerable effort by authorities to clear the scene, the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently conducting further inquiries into the cause and circumstances surrounding the collision, and they have requested that witnesses or those with relevant information reach out to Master Corporal R.
