
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a severe assault that occurred over the weekend, where a juvenile was critically injured by gunfire in the Hickory Grove Division. Officers were dispatched shortly after 4:30 p.m. to the scene at the 8000 block of Trousdale Drive, following reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.
Upon arrival, the young victim was found with a gunshot wound and was swiftly taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department statement. Homicide Unit detectives and Crime Scene Search officers are actively working to piece together the incident, while Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC have also provided their assistance on site.
The investigation is currently active, and officials are engaging with those involved. In their update, authorities have indicated that they are not in search of any suspects at large, suggesting that the individuals involved in the incident have been accounted for.
