Residents of Kendall County, Illinois, may soon face a 5.44% increase in property taxes. A public notice has been issued on the Kendall County website, and a hearing to discuss the proposal is set for November 19 at the Kendall County Office Building, 111 W. Fox Street, Yorkville, Illinois.
Citizens who support or oppose the tax increase can share their views by contacting Debbie Gillette, the Kendall County Clerk and Recorder. Last year, corporate and special purpose property taxes totaled $26,046,027, and if the proposal passes, this amount would rise to $27,463,199 for 2024.
The tax levy for debt service and public building leases is expected to stay the same at $0, providing some stability amid rising financial pressures. The upcoming meeting is seen as an important opportunity for taxpayers to express their opinions, with a direct line to the clerk and recorder’s office for those wishing to speak at the public hearing.
