Halloween in Kingsport is shaping up to have a meaningful addition this year with the Kingsport Parks and Recreation Department gearing up to host an inclusive trunk or treat event. Slated for November 2 at Brickyard Park, they're putting a twist on the usual spooky festivities by fostering an environment that welcomes individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities, as reported by the City of Kingsport, Tennessee.
The event, dubbed "Be the Miracle" A.S.P.I.R.E. trunk or treat, will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., located at 2017 Brickyard Park Drive. It's set to be a community gathering with no entry fee, encouraging visitors of all ages to join in. According to a statement made by Kingsport's official announcement, Program Coordinator Renee Ensor expressed, "The event is open to anyone with intellectual and/or physical disabilities, so please come out for an evening of trunk or treating, amazing costumes and kickball."
This event is part of the Kingsport Parks and Recreation Department’s A.S.P.I.R.E. program (Adaptive Sports Programs Inclusive Recreation Experiences), which provides adaptive sports and recreational activities for individuals with disabilities or physical limitations. These programs are designed to promote fair and equal competition among all participants.
