Residents of Vermont Avenue witnessed a curious rescue operation yesterday afternoon as the Knoxville Fire Department (KFD) extricated a man entangled in the branches some 30 feet above ground. The call, which came in just before 2 p.m., was answered swiftly by the city's first responders. WVLT8 reported that the man, despite his precarious situation, was on terra firma within an hour, thanks to the expertise of the KFD crew.
The man appeared injured at first, but in a twist, he decided against seeking medical care. KFD's tiller truck played a pivotal role in navigating the tree's complexities. Without which, as WBIR detailed, the man would have likely been stuck in the tree for an extended period.
A KFD spokesperson emphasized that they are ready for various emergencies. Although the man was stuck before help arrived, he would likely have praised the firefighters if trees could talk.
