More than two years after a woman's body was discovered in knoxville, law enforcement officials are continuing their efforts to identify her. The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) has released a facial composite of the victim, created by artists from the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), as they appeal to the public for assistance in piecing together her identity.

The unidentified woman's remains were found on August 16, 2022, in a isolated wooded area around E. Fourth Avenue and Third Avenue, located within the 4th and Gill community of Knoxville. She was estimated to be around 5’1″ tall and between the ages of 35-55 with blonde hair. In a statement obtained by WATE, KPD detailed that she was dressed in a black tank top, black leggings, and donned a black hat featuring the Carhartt logo when she was discovered.

DNA samples from the remains have been submitted for forensic genetic genealogy testing, an effort that could provide new leads in the search for the woman’s identity. Detectives and medical examiners have already ruled out multiple missing persons in the course of their investigation, WBIR stated. Despite the passage of time and the availability of a public sketch, her identity remains unknown.

The Knoxville Police Department is reaching out to anyone who may have relevant information to the case. Those with any leads are encouraged to contact the Regional Forensic Center at 865-215-8000 or the East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165, as mentioned by WVLT.
