A significant structure fire impacted a Valley Glen neighborhood on October 1, when a one-story, detached garage engulfed in flames endangered a nearby apartment complex. According to a Los Angeles Fire Department alert, the incident occurred at a residence located at 12122 W Oxnard St, where firefighters were dispatched at 7:42 PM.
Despite the intensity of the fire, the LAFD succeeded in knocking down the blaze after 20 minutes of concerted effort, as reported by LAFD notification. No injuries were reported during the operation. Firefighters defended the exposed apartment, with initially reported damages limited to minor cosmetic issues such as "melted blinds" in one corner of the building, but a more thorough examination revealed more significant concerns.
Following a complete assessment, the fire's impact forced nine individuals out of their homes, LAFD announced in a later update. The Red Cross has stepped in to aid these affected residents with their immediate needs. The cause of the blaze has drawn suspicion, and LAFD Arson investigators are reportedly probing the incident.
