Last night, the Los Angeles Fire Department battled a structural fire at 332 N Fairfax Avenue that necessitated the transition from an offensive to a defensive stance due to its intensity.
According to the initial report by the LAFD released at 10:22 PM, firefighters responded to a blaze that engulfed a one-story row of commercials, with one unit affected. The fire, with additional resources en route, saw firefighters aggressively engaging the flames.
However, within a mere twenty-one minutes, "with fire through the roof," the LAFD reported a significant shift in their operations. As documented in their follow-up alert, the incident commander made the call for all firefighters to evacuate the structure and the roof, transitioning to defensive operations and establishing master streams to control the fire from a distance. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported amidst the chaos.
