Officers responded to a report of a shooting late Saturday night in the 2100 block of Barranca Drive. A regrettable incident that ended with fatal consequences. They discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, and despite their efforts to save him, the man was pronounced dead at the hospital, as reported by the City of Lake Havasu.
The homeowner, who fired the fatal shot, believed the victim was an intruder, according to the City of Lake Havasu. The victim, however, was later identified as a co-habitant of the residence, not the presumed threat. With an ongoing investigation, officials ensure that there is no further danger to the community.
Following the shooting, 52-year-old Justin Wilcox of Lake Havasu City was apprehended. Charged with 2nd-degree Homicide and Manslaughter, Wilcox was held on a $500,000 cash-only bond and is now in the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
