Residents in the Desert Hills community were spared from injury when a fire broke out at a home on Challenger Drive last Saturday evening. According to the City of Lake Havasu, a neighbor's quick report at around 5:30 p.m. led to a rapid response from local firefighters, who arrived to find the back of the property engulfed in smoke and flames.
The fire, which raged in the 3900 block of Challenger Drive, required a response from five engine companies and a medic unit alongside the Battalion Chief and was brought under control within a cool 25 minutes, even though Desert Hills Fire Department stepped in to cover additional 911 calls in the surrounds areas, as reported by the City of Lake Havasu. Luckily, the house's occupants were out at the time and firefighters sustained no injuries while taming the blaze, later spending two hours on salvage operations to secure the scene.
No cause for the fire has been officially determined, with investigations ongoing to shed light on the event, as per the City of Lake Havasu.
